Horse – 14 years old
(rescued in 2013)

I am the first rescue in 16 Hands of Love's herd.  I picked my name which means "Friend to Everyone" in the Sioux Native American language, which helps me to remember to be a strong yet compassionate leader of the entire herd.  I am able to see your Truth and will help you to see and honor it as well. I am rescued from the dressage / competition world.

I am the grandmother spirit of the herd.  I hold the deep understanding of logic, respect and calmness.  Once you spend time with me you can't help but begin to embody these traits and pay them forward to our world. I am rescued as a retired therapy horse that many aren’t willing to rescue due to my age.

As a former show goat, I was rescued because my prior owner knew that I had more to offer the world and would be wonderful working with children, and that I am. I follow the children that visit around like a little puppy dog. I am fascinated by the miracles and wonder of life and love learning and growing as a child does. Come play with me and learn to see life through the eyes of a child (goat ) again.

My full of life energy, spunk and charisma are captivating.  Come spend time with me and you'll find yourself laughing out loud and seeing life through the eyes of a child again (a goat child that is ;)).
My prior owner received me as a show goat and when her plans in life changed and she was no longer able to show me, she was given 5 days to find me a home and here I am.  I bring a new life and energy to the herd, come see for yourself!

Goat – 4 years old
(rescued in 2016)

My quiet strength helps to balance the herd.  I am a healthy combination of inquisitiveness, shyness, playfulness and strength.  I help others to see and find these strengths within themselves. I was born to a show goat who was required by show laws to give birth so she could keep showing. Even after my mom made it clear she was not supposed to get pregnant, after many attempts, she finally did and died 3 months after giving birth to myself and my twin sister Mabel. Within the first 3 months of my life, I was castrated and my horns were attempted to be cut out, twice. I was strong and they grew back, now I have a unique set of horns as one grows back and one forward. I also help teach others to not give up, to embrace their uniqueness and to honor their strength.

I am one of the largest of the goat herd but never abuse my power.  I watch over, comfort and protect the elderly in the herd.  I do not hesitate to point out when someone is too pushy and can offer the gift to those who are willing to learn of exuding a humble confidence. I was rescued with my brother, Dipper when my mother died after giving birth to us.

I am the wise leader of the goat herd, I have learned with age that I do not have to lead with fear but with love, confidence and compassion.  I love to share my gifts with everyone I meet and many can't help but love me too.  I also give great back rubs with my strong horns and show what a gift it is to be able to keep my horns and my gratitude for that. I was rescued many years ago by my first owner and rescued again to keep the herd together when my then owner couldn’t keep me.

I am quiet yet confident and help others to find similar strengths within themselves, not only in humans but also with other goats in the herd.  I took Mabel and Dipper under my care when their mother passed.  I am also the first rescued show goat and am grateful for my life.  I often tip my head back to scratch my back and wonder where my horns are.

Goat - 3 Years

(rescued in Sept. 2020)

My former owner rescued me and I was able to be of service in their therapy sessions.  Once the business was sold, there wasn't room for me at the new home so my owner wanted to find a home for me that allowed me to continue serving humanity.  I get to do that at 16 Hands of Love and am a unique addition to their herd in that I keep everyone on their toes.  I was the leader in my other herd and felt I had to constantly protect as it was just me and the other goat, I am now learning that I can trust my new goat herd family to protect each other as a unit.  I offer that in my lessons to others as well.

I came with Lucy, we both served as a part of a therapy program that had to part ways and we needed a new home, ideally one that would allow us to continue to serve and give our gifts.  My former owner knew of the perfect place for me and now I get to continue to touch lives of those who meet me at 16 Hands of Love.  I am a quiet but curious soul.  When you look in my eyes you see my depth and truth and somehow know that all is well in the world.

My first experiences in life were living in the FFA / goat show world.  I did very well, so well that they wanted to keep me for breeding purposes but my show owner decided that my life might be better spent by joining the herd at 16 Hands of Love and offering my gifts to the world in a different way.  When I first joined the herd I was shy and hesitant as I wasn't sure about life and the goings on of things but I've become braver and stronger each day and now I help others to trust that gentle and quiet confidence as we all bloom and flower in our own unique timing.

We bring a sense of playfulness to the herd and barn atmosphere.  There are no boundaries for us as we can squeeze through fences and fly where we need to go so we can visit you even in the "no animal zone."  We love to explore you and see what you're snacking on and bring out your brave and playful side in allowing us to share space with you.  We are probably some of the most curious ones in the bunch and invite you to come explore your curiosity and visit us!

Dog – 5 to 7 years old
(rescued in Oct. of 2017)

My job is to live on the land with the goats and to protect the herd from predators.  I also love to play with the humans that come to visit.  I am extremely intelligent, loving and loyal. I hold space for those attending events and sessions and help bring in guidance and a sense of calm. I was rescued and found by my first human after falling out of a truck. When she no longer had a herd of goats for me to protect, she knew I needed my job and helped me find my new rescue forever home at 16 Hands of Love.

My job is to also live on the land and protect the herd. I’ve only known this my entire life and absolutely LOVE running around the pasture, getting dirty and protecting the herd from birds and other fun things! My joy is contagious; I bring a breath of fresh air to anyone I meet. My former owner loved me very much but couldn’t give me the job that I needed so they found me my forever home at 16 Hands of Love.

(Rescued in Nov. of 2020)
We are new to 16 Hands of Love as of yet and are still learning that this is our home and that we will be safe and loved.
We were found on the streets by the League City Animal Shelter and taken into their Barn Cat Rescue Program, which is how 16 Hands of Love found us.  We are slowly being adapted to the barn and once we settle in we will learn that we have a forever home and lots of mice to play with or catch.

I am exactly as my name says.  Free.
Free from the fear of being sold for my meat and free from the bondages of growing life inside of me over and over again just to have it taken from me time and time again.  I was found a day before I was booked to have my life ended and could not be more grateful to have a new home in 16 Hands of Love.  I am curious but cautious and am still settling in to my new space and learning to trust again.  That is what I can offer you, the chance to learn to trust and love again.
