Meet the Team

Takoda: I am the first rescue in 16 Hands of Love's herd. I picked my name which means "Friend to Everyone" in the Sioux Native American language, which helps me to remember to be a strong yet compassionate leader of the entire herd. I am able to see your Truth and will help you to see and honor it as well. I am rescued from the dressage / competition world.
Toby: I am quiet yet confident and help others to find similar strengths within themselves, not only in humans but also with other goats in the herd. I took Mabel and Dipper under my care when their mother passed. I am also the first rescued show goat and am grateful for my life. I often tip my head back to scratch my back and wonder where my horns are.
Lolly: I lived in a backyard for the first year of my life. My prior owners took me in when no one could care for me. They loved and cared for me well but knew I needed goat friends and more room to roam and graze. My offering to others is to always be open to new experiences. When you think what you have is nice but your heart yearns for more, follow that nudge and trust the opportunities that come your way. Ask and you shall receive.
Bella: My full of life energy, spunk and charisma are captivating. Come spend time with me and you'll find yourself laughing out loud and seeing life through the eyes of a child again (a goat child that is ;)). My prior owner received me as a show goat and when her plans in life changed and she was no longer able to show me, she was given 5 days to find me a home and here I am. I bring a new life and energy to the herd, come see for yourself!
Stitch the goat
Stitch: Eleanore is my mom, I look a lot like her, except I’m a cross between a Lamacha goat and a Nigerian Dwarf goat so my ears are a bit of a mix of the two. You will often see us snuggling up at night. I bring a lot of character, charm and spunkiness to the herd. I’m still learning how to be a leader and how to fully trust humans; sometimes I’ll let you pet me and sometimes I won’t. The message I would like to share with others in the healing work I offer is it’s ok to trust yourself in all of the emotions you have. And to be someone new in each moment.
My name is Eleanore. I am an American Lamancha goat and we have nubs for ears. It’s quite entertaining for the kids to learn that some goats look like they don’t have ears. I am very sure of myself and quite loving and nurturing when I want to be. When you’re in my presence you feel like I know what you’re thinking…maybe even before you do. My son is Stitch and I’m very grateful that we got to stay together as we still snuggle each night. I am a strong and steady leader who also likes to have fun and be playful. When you’re in my presence you can also learn to embrace these qualities in yourself.
When my prior owner passed away, his granddaughter kept and cared for me for as long as she could. And when she could no longer give me the life she felt I deserved, she found 16 Hands of Love for me. Due to my age, I was beaten up on by the other horses at my old home and also didn’t get the nourishment I needed because of this. Takoda really needed a friend and we have become great companions. I bring with me a stoic energy of grounded wisdom with my older age. My message is life is not always what it seems, you can see this displayed in my eyes. On one side I have a blue/brown eye and the other side an albino brown eye. Depending on which side you see me from, you will see something different. Life is not always black and white. See the best and beauty in it all and that is what you’ll experience and create more of in your life.
My name is Hey-hey and right now I’m the only chicken that allows myself to be picked up. I will hold the spot for all the chickens that we have as we tend to have short life spans and come and go quickly at times. I’ve been around the longest since we’ve moved to Hempstead. Our collective message is how wise we really are. And when we allow a child (or even an adult) to face their fears and pick us up and hold us, we are giving much more than meets the eye. The glee and joy on the faces of those who get to hold us compares to no other. We might be small and sometimes regarded as “just a chicken” but we are mighty and when you spend time with us, you see we are so much more than, “just a chicken.” May you find places in your life where you know your worth.
Hermione: “I may be small, but I am mighty. I carry all of the characteristics, strength, and regalness as a full-sized horse does, except I’ve had to learn to trust myself more because of my size being a mini horse. My name means Messenger, and I have been just that, bringing messages to 16 Hands of Love’s heard to accept something new that may not look like the rest of the horses in size but can be a member they have grown to love and cherish. I am strong and confident, know who I am, and know my strengths. I would love to share this message with those who connect with me.”
Meow: I was a feral cat that was in the League City Barn Cat adoption program. When I meowed, the person who found me knew I was not a true feral cat as they don’t meow when in a crate. 16 Hands of Love rescued me and didn’t give up on me even though I hid and hissed and acted like I was going to attack them. I stuck around until I had the courage to come out of my hiding spot. I did this because I was being meowed at by my rescuers and I would meow back until I finally got brave enough to be close to them. So now my name is Meow. That is what saved my life, is that I would talk and meow back. My message is to have courage. Even when it feels scary and your life changes without you wanting it too. Keep the courage because good things come from change.
Meet Rambo & Cody: Guardians of the Herd We are Rambo and Cody—two inseparable brothers, born and raised together, and proudly serving as Livestock Guardian Dogs (LGDs). From the moment our first owner brought us to her farm as pups, we knew we had a big job ahead: protect, learn, and love. We’re here to teach some important life lessons. Lesson one? Your outside doesn’t have to match the inside when it comes to what you’re capable of. You see, we’re not your typical LGDs in appearance. We’re half Great Pyrenees (our dad is a big, fluffy, gentle giant) and half Australian Cattle Dog (our mom is a smart, spunky herder—think Bluey for the kids out there). We may not look like the usual suspects, but we were bred for this job—and we do it with heart, skill, and joy. When our beloved first owner became ill, she made the hard decision to find us a new home where we could stay together and continue our work outdoors, guarding a herd. That’s when fate brought us to 16 Hands of Love. After the passing of George and Daisy—the long-time guardians of the herd—Angela knew it was time to welcome a new pair of protectors. She didn’t just need dogs. She needed the right dogs. And we were the perfect fit. Now, we proudly carry on George and Daisy’s legacy: • Cody (on the left) is calm, thoughtful, and wise beyond his years. He’s a gentle leader, much like George was. Always watching, always aware. • Rambo (on the right) is pure heart—full of love and energy, always ready to play a game of tag with the goats or offer kisses and tail wags to anyone who needs them. He channels the warm, joyful spirit of Daisy every day. We’re not just dogs. We’re guardians, teachers, and companions. And together, we’re home.
