My children have been going to heal with 16 Hands of Love for a few months now. It is such a lovely space for healing. Very serene and welcoming. My children ask to come spend time here. I am so grateful to Angela for teaching the boys to love and have respect for the earth and the animals. Each session has exceeded my expectations. I am sincerely grateful

16 Hands of Love is a phenomenal opportunity for children to learn about themselves, other people and about interacting with the world. The horses of 16 hands of love are calm, patient and eager to make friendships with everyone. Both my children have an exceptional bond with Takoda and when given a choice of who to work with don’t shy away from his tall strong build. He is ever so careful when my 3 year old walks around him watching intently to keep her safe. He enjoys her embraces and welcomes her to lounge on his back and brush his belly. I have been told all through elementary that my son has a difficult time remaining still, calm and focused but during a session with Takoda he is ever so intently focused and calm. He can get Takoda to halter and lead around the pasture. As a mother my heart is filled with love watching my children become so naturally in tuned with the earth and animals. We live in the city and could not give them this opportunity without 16 hands of love. I feel like Takoda is the star of the show but I cannot forget Ms. Angela Hoover. Her compassion, patience and positive intention with our children is amazing. She sees their potential and strengths above all else. Using choice, composure, assertiveness, empathy and encouragement she is an effective natural leader with children.

Interview with Natural Awakening's Magazine
16 Hands of Love is a non-profit organization in Seabrook whose goal is to be an ever creating and evolving source of healing and re-centering focused on bringing more awareness, peace, connection and love to individuals, families, and the world through the use of nature and rescued animals. Angela Hoover birthed this creation of love three years ago in 2014 after being guided to leave teaching and work in nature and in the company of horses as a heart-centered, connected and healing opportunity.
At the August 13 dedication of her new facility, Angela shared the inspirational story of how she and her horses and goats found their current location.
The initial location for 16 Hands of Love was a barn in LaPorte. I knew for 18 months that the barn was going to be sold and I would have to find another place. I asked Spirit several times when I should start looking for another place, and was told to wait until the house and barn went up for sale. It took a year for that to happen.
I was initially told I had 60 days to find a new place and move the animals. The land that was calling me, which is several miles down the road from this location, wasn’t even cleared, so it looked like there was a lot that needed to happen to make it ready to house the animals.
I went to see Kyra (Rev. Kyra Baer, minister of Unity Bay Area Houston) basically to have someone outside me tell me I was not crazy for waiting until the last moment. Of course my family and friends kept asking me where I was going to move the animals, and I just said, “I don’t know. I haven’t been given that information yet and I just have to hold faith.”Kyra really helped me center in to that.
In Kyra’s channeling, she received that the new place would come at the eleventh hour. That brought me a lot of peace. I had been shown this place (the current location) in January. When I first came to see it, a dear friend of mine who lives near here encouraged me to see it just in case. I had some resistance because of my own agenda--not wanting to lease from someone, wanting my own place. Spirit had said, “You need to go. This is a dear friend and you trust her.”
So I came, and my initial feeling was that it was too pristine and perfect. I wanted something more rugged. I did reach out to the owner of this place in May, but I was still holding out for the other land. Then I was guided to go on vacation in June. I thought, “Wait a minute! Move out date is July 30 and I don’t know where I’m going!” But all guidance I was getting was to go on vacation.
The owner (of this space) had not responded to my email, and I interpreted that as a sign that this was not the right place. I was feeling very distracted and not enjoying my vacation at all. I was praying and praying, saying “Please give me something for peace. I want to be present and enjoy the moment.” Spirit asked, “How will you feel when you know exactly where you are going and all you have to do when you get home is just pack your bags?” I said, “I would feel relaxed and peaceful and enjoy the moment.” Spirit said, “Embody that.”
I felt everything lift, and when I woke up the next morning I was inspired to write an email to the owner here laying out everything that I needed. I had been finding places that would take the horses, but not the goats. One of the head goats, before he passed, told me I am to keep them all together. Had he not told me that I think I would have wavered at some point. But I was being shown like the Holy Trinity--me doing these events, the horses, and the goats.
So I was able to put all of that into an email to the owner with clarity--what I can offer and what I need. He didn’t tell me yes for another two weeks. I didn’t know I was moving here until around July 15, even though the move out date at the other place was July 30. I kept hearing, “Eleventh hour--hold it, hold it, hold it.” Now that I know him (the owner), he was preparing it for me, but he had not told me yes.
I questioned myself a few times. If I knew about this place, why did I put everyone through so much turmoil. Sport came through, the horse that passed, and he said “Had you moved any sooner, I would not have been able to be buried where my land is.” (Angela got goosebumps all over as she shared this). That happened in mid-July. So in our human mind it would have been logical to have everything set up, and everyone wanted me to have a plan and everything perfectly laid out. When I was really down on myself he (Sport) said, “No, you did everything perfectly, even though it didn’t make sense to other people.”
I kept having this vision of me and the first barn owner hugging and her saying, “I can’t believe you did it!” It’s about being in the moment, and about emergence versus planning and executing. And sure enough, after we moved here the first barn owner and I stood right here, hugging and crying, and she said, “This is even better than I imagined!”
Kyra was instrumental in this process, because she helped me hold steady to what I was being asked to do.
Kyra, what was your role in this magnificent manifestation?
I’ve been with Angela through choosing to have a child, through making a career change, and through choosing to go these other directions and listen to her true heart and soul, and follow her intuition and her knowing. My role has always been to hold the sacred space of knowing with her and knowing that there is no place that is separate from that which is calling you to your destiny.
Her going to Canada (for training) and coming back to work with horses, having her son--my heart is touched, because she is a symbol of that courage it takes to go within. To say, “I don’t care what it looks like to the world. I know what is the truth of my soul, and I know what is calling me.” My role is to constantly reflect back to her who she is, to say “I see who you are, I know who you are, and don’t let go.” All of this is you bringing the dream to fruition and finding your own strength and courage and wisdom and trust in yourself and your Inner Being.
No one else can give that to you, but having someone reflect it back to you gives you the courage to live from it. Look what has come to be because of you are living in to that. All the people who are touched by the story itself, by the path you have walked, and by those who are being supported and nurtured by this community. We are so grateful for those who have come, and those who will continue to come.
Angela, you are the center point of this who has held a sacred knowing throughout all of it. You came in to this life to do this work, and just needed a simple reflection here and there to remember.
Angela, what is your vision now, going forward?
To get to know the land better, to deepen the healing and bring in the animals who are asking to come, like Maggie (a newly rescued horse). The vision keeps shifting as we get settled, and I feel it will be even deeper than the work we were doing at the first location. There is more space here for more animals. Really, my vision is to keep being present and evolving. I think that is the biggest thing, staying open to guidance about what to offer next.
So if our readers want to take a step with you, what should they do?
Check in with their heart, and if they feel called to participate in some way, then contact me and we will find a spot for them. For example, just sitting with the goats and loving on them is valuable. Anyone interested in helping with organic weed control would also be great.
Kyra, do you have anything to add?
The emergence of this is truly bringing a whole community together in ways we haven’t been able to fully imagine yet. We’re bringing it into existence moment by moment. The unified community is bringing Source energy in so many different ways. This is a spiritual healing center that is organically bringing forth all these elements and sentient beings to participate together. It’s beautiful!
